Steph Rose’s You Tube channel contains interesting ideas for mobility drills – some of which are directly related to martial arts

These two videos will give you some more examples of dynamic warm up movements. It’s likely that not all of these will be suitable for an aikido warm up.. but there are some good ideas — escpecially if you don’t want to move around too much i.e. raise the pulse but more by staying in your own space on the mat.

The video supports our discussions in Session 1 i.e. static stretching is not wrong but might produced reduced benefits! You should also see that an element of pulse raising and mobility will be included in the dynamic stretching movements. NB There is mention of holding static stretches for up to 30/60 seconds and we will be covering this type of stretching in our second session along with a bit of theory around muscle structures.

Membermojo: a highly customisable but simple database for managing memberships. Free for under 50 members. Good points are that individual members have control of their data and can update details as required — you can send out an automated welcome pack and renewal pack. It links to Paypal and Stripe for taking membership payments (optional). You can also add files to individual records – and you can do mailings from the portal as well.
